Walt’s practice involves civil litigation with a focus on the defense of product liability cases on behalf of manufacturers and retailers. He has litigated cases throughout California, many other states and two Canadian Provinces. He has advised numerous national and international corporate clients on risk management, consumer information, product labeling and warnings and litigation management. Walt currently acts as national counsel for marine manufacturers.

Walt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University in 1974. He received his law degree in 1978. He was a member of the San Diego Police Department from 1969 to 1979. After a winter working on his skiing in Telluride, Colorado, Walt was hired as house counsel for Hobie Cat Sailboats in Oceanside, California in May of 1980. After four years Walt began private practice representing Hobie and other manufacturers.

In addition to being admitted to practice in the State of California and the Southern District, Walt is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Walt has been admitted pro hac vice in many states.

Walt serves as a San Luis Coastal Unified School District trustee. He is currently serving his second term as board president since his election in 2000. Walt has served on the non-profit boards of the SLO Little Theater, International Film Festival and Arts Obispo. He has been attorney coach for Pacific Beach High School's mock trial team for many years.

Walt and wife Cathy reside in Avila Beach.
