Walter Stuckey graduated from California State University, Northridge with a BA in Philosophy in 1980. He earned his MBA from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1981 and his JD from Southwestern University School of Law in 1984. While in law school, Walter received the American Jurisprudence Award in torts and special recognition in Corporate Social Responsibility for his article on the impact of the Garn St. Germain Act. Walter also worked for Bet Tzedek Legal Services and was instrumental in implementing an SSI curtailment category for the psychiatrically disabled in a post Lopez world.

Walter began his career at a new car dealership in southern California where he worked his way from mechanic to general manager and has been involved in the automobile business ever since. He started his own auto wrecking business in 1974 which he later expanded into two used car dealerships and a new car agency. After selling his business and obtaining his law degree, Walter began representing automobile dealers, manufacturers, auto repair facilities and auto wrecking yards in the Los Angeles area. He spent 20 years as general counsel to a group of new car dealers which were acquired by Auto Nation in 1995. He is currently retained by many new car dealers in southern California and also serves as pro bono counsel to California Rural Legal Assistance resolving automobile-related disputes.

Walter has strong connections to the Central Coast having lived in Cambria and Paso Robles since 1985. He maintained a law office in Cambria from 1985 to 1995 and was active in Cambria community affairs, serving as president of the Cambria Chamber of Commerce and vice president of the Cambria Rotary Club. In 1991, Walter was awarded an honorary lifetime membership by the Cambria Chamber of Commence for his tireless efforts in furthering the interests of the Chamber.
